NSP's second edition Mountain Rescue is a great primer for those interested in surveying this topic. Many resources listed for more indepth study. Lists in appendix is comprehensive, I particularly liked the medical equip and sample forms and charts. This text is not just for Ski Patrollers. I recommed this text for anyone who is interested in a career in SAR as well as anyone who routinely spends time hiking, skiing out of bounds, camping in remote areas.
This book was required for ski patrol training. It arrived in good condition and the contents are very well written. Great guide for being in the back country year round.
Good reference for some of my teaching, I incorporate it into my classes. I teach search and rescue for fire service.
It is an easy to read overview of mountain travel. I thought all the chapters were clear, focused on basic knowledge. Really enjoyable book, learned a few things. Then I got to the last chapter, on using ropes for an angled rescue. There is no way you can figure out what they are talking about unless you already have experience with ropes, very frustrating.
Not very complete and there are some errors within the body that are not current with thoughts within the Wilderness Medicine literature and research..
