Great little book, they learn a lot . Fast shipping, thank you.
This is the first book I have read by Carole Marsh. This book was for my 10 yr. old son's book report. It is excellent. I highly recommend it! It was very educational for my son as well as myself. She has a long list of books she has written. We are going to order more.
My daughter loves this series. She read them the first time at age 6 and is rereading them again at age 9. The mysteries are based upon real locations that children can relate to. These can sometimes be hard to find at the local libraries so I would highly recommend adding this series to your personal library.
Kids really enjoy all of Carole Marsh's books. Beware of factual inaccuracies, though. They run throughout her book series. In this particular book, the kids get off the plane in Flagstaff, AZ to find the air temp at 110 degrees. Welcome to the desert. The only problem is that Flagstaff is at around 7,000' elevation and even in July (the hottest month) the average high temperature is 81 degrees. In fact the hottest temperature ever recorded in Flagstaff is only 97 degrees. So while these books are fun and at the same time somewhat informative, I have found many instances in Ms. Marsh's books where she does not have all her facts straight.I contacted Ms. Marsh after some of my 4th grade students read her books and found some mistakes. Here is part of her secretary's response: "The one thing that you might want to remind the students, is that the book is a fiction book" Therefore I would be wary of trusting anything presented as factual in her writing.
We bought this book to read while taking a trip to the Grand Canyon. My husband commented almost daily on how accurate the information was throughout the book. My son and I have read other of these books as we travel to different places and they are always an enjoyable read!
We love that the boys are learning geography while enjoying the mysteries.
