So i read the blurb and see the cover...and i was so excited to read this book! **Some Spoilers*So i started it and was really into it....then probably after about 15% im like wtf? Okay where to even begin? First...shes a virgin and meets this guy after one second and automatically wants to jump his bones ... and in my mind a virgin is shy and isn't so forward like Zoey. Second, (blew my mind) she moves so insanely fast, that when he tells her to come live with him (in my mind i know hes doing it for protection so the stay is going to only be long enough until she is safe) but NO! Zoey's mind is set on 'omg he wants me to live with him forever so this makes me his girlfriend'...this is like after 1 DAY! then in like the same day...they get engaged?! holy crap...too fast! Third....during the first time they had sex...she says 'am i going to feel you cum in me? im so excited!' (not exact words but close)... and im like who ever says that during sex?! who even has a conversation during sex?! Lastly....still on day 1 of meeting...they have this "talk" and he opens to her and says 'your not just using me to have sex are you?' (once again not exact words)... and im screaming in my head 'A VIRGIN DOESN'T USE A MAN FOR SEX'. In that same moment Drake went from so hot...to not. He got so emotional and opened up about never having girlfriends and all kinds of crap. I wanted Drake to have more experience i guess.So anyway....i gave this a 3/5 stars...the sex was hot yes ... but how fast they moved and her weird choice of wording for some things just didn't completely win me over.
All the things you come to expect from an Alexa Riley book. Insta love, no cheating, hunky alpha males, and a HEA. It’s well written and not a full length book. I would say its novella length. The steamy scenes are steamy enough and the couples are adorable around each other.This is Drake and Zoey’s story. Drake owns a private security firm and is hired to guard Zoey. He doesn’t usually take on assignments personally but after seeing Zoey’s picture he refuses to allow anyone else to guard her. Zoey is a independent programmer who is oblivious to her own charms and speaks her mind with no filter.We also get some glimpses into the romance of Zoey’s sister Elle and one of Drakes men Daniel who goes by the nickname Pink. Elle is the manager for Zoey’s programming business, she is high strung and stubborn about getting in a relationship. Pink sees a picture of Elle and decides he is going to rid her of her stubborn ways with a strong hand, bubble baths, and foot massages.
This was a really great and hilarious read. These are some very weird, outspoken and outlandish characters that will have you so shocked one moment and laughing like crazy in seconds. The female characters are ballsy, independent and feisty as hell with a touch of crazy thrown in. While their male counterparts embodies the term 'possessive and protective alphas', they are within themselves determined to keep their women safe as well as from leaving them.Zoey and Elle are sisters with completely different personalities but work well together. Zoey is without a filter and it takes some getting used to her and her frankness, while Elle is a bit more reserved, a real princess and loves order and things her way. So when they met their security guards, Drake and Pink, their world changed for the better.
As stated in the Alexa Riley bio - "They specialize in insta-love, over-the-top, sweet, and cheesy love stories that don't take all year to read."This book hits every point - with extra cheeseI found this book short, quirky, and totally fun to read. Yes, it is an insta-love (not my favorite). Yes, Zoey is missing a brain to mouth filter (not there and never was and it extends to her respect of physical boundaries, too). Yes, Drake may be hot but he has limited experience (no man-whore here). Not a lot of action or steamy sex scenes. BUT, the interaction between the characters is great. Just sit back and enjoy the read and don't think too much about how this would never happen or the ethics involved with being a bodyguard or the plot holes that you can drive a Mack truck though.Enjoy it for the nice little bit of escapism that it is.
Drake (The Hulk) with a sweet soul and Zoey (The Geek) who understands things literally. Zoey doesn't have a brain filter. She exceeds the polite rules expected by society by just saying what's on her mind. She doesn't know how to play games, and Drake knows he will always get the truth from her. Although I liked Zoey, I don't feel she has deep emotions, she just lives for the moment. Drake his smitten with her from the beginning and needs her in his life to give it more meaning.Their attraction for each other explodes from the first meeting and takes you for a ride throughout.
Drake has been hired by Zoey's sister to protect Zoey from a stalker. Zoey has never been attracted to anyone before, but Drake makes her want to explore all the hype involving sex. Drake is kind of a loner, he's not big on relationships. The curvy computer genius with zero social filters has him thinking about forever. She's a breath of fresh air; he never has to guess what she's thinking or what she really means. She says what she's thinking and has no problem going for what she wants. They're ready to start planning forever, but first they need to find Zoey's stalker.I love Zoey, she's a perfect contradiction of innocence and boldness. Especially in the bedroom. Drake is a man who knows what he wants, and that is a family and a woman that isn't a puzzle. Zoey is it for him, and he's going to make her every dream come true.
