I've been aware of Evernote for a very long time but didn't understand what all the fuss was about, until I read this book. A lot of other reviews complain that this book is suitable only for beginners - I loved it precisely BECAUSE it's suitable only for beginners.As far as I can tell, it contains all the info I need to start using Evernote properly, while hinting at many other interesting things I'll be able to do once I get a handle on it.It's a quick, easy read, which is perfect for a beginner because it's easy to be overwhelmed by new information. Add to that the fact that this book is a freebie and I'm a happy girl.
Very basic, quick read, if you know anything about Evernote. I downloaded the app a couple days ago and have been playing with it, and this book mostly confirmed what I'd already learned. I see people in 2 situations finding this book very useful:1. If you are tech-challenged and know nothing-to-very-littel about Evernote, or2. If you have trouble thinking outside of the box, this may help you consider the many possible uses of Evernote.If you don't mind playing around with software or you are looking for more in depth notes and hints, look elsewhere.
I recommend this book only to an absolute Evernote beginner - one that either hasn't used Evernote at all or tied to use it but didn't understand what to do. I had used Evernote already for basic note taking and found myself skimming quickly through the book without learning much. One thing I did learn was that you can achieve 2-factor authentication using Google Authenticator. That's something I will look into.
Having been an Evernote user for 5 years, I wanted to see if I am missing out some of the things Evernote is capable of. This book is a short introduction for using the Evernote and how its usage can simply your life. The book fully delivers on this promise. It has many ideas for using the Evernote in different ways that even after 5 years of using the Evenote, I found valuable. I would recommend this book for someone starting out with Evernote or to those experienced users who want to review their Evernote knowledge and pick a few interesting ideas.
This was a wonderful book. I've tried starting Evernote several times and pretty much have given up each time. Even without having Evernote in front of me, it sounds pretty clear. I'm excited to get started to be able to give it a try. If you've been confused before, start with this book and if needed, go on to other Evernote books! If you are new to Evernote and/or Genealogy this is probably more useful. I'm not new to either. I found it Okay -- but I noticed several typos and/or misused words that were missed when only doing a Spell-check versus having someone actually read it and edit or correct these errors. This was both annoying and gave me a lower opinion of the work as a whole, or lead me to seek out and read anything else by the author.
Jason Bracht, your average get-rich-quick vlogger who jumped on the Evernote bandwagon in 2014, writes an uninspired “tutorial†on the killer app, that just doesn’t do it justice. Unfortunately, all it contains is a list of the software’s features which can be found just as easily online. I’m disappointed.
its an excellent book pointing out some of the very good features of Evernote, well presented and easy to understand for us less informed about the latest aides we can find when learning to use our phones properly. I am one of the probably many Evernote Downloaders who left it at that and never knew how to use this great tool. Thank you for opening my eyes!
