Used this guide almost exclusively on a recent 5-day trip to Charleston. The recommendations for both attractions and places to eat were quite good and completely accurate.We did not use the hotel recommendations since the hotels in downtown Charleston are all quite expensive. If driving it will save a lot of money to stay outside the downtown area and just park the car in a garage once you get there.
Jim Morekis writes for our Savannah "Connect" weekly newspaper and we always read his articles first because they are written with candor, humor and wit. He's a great writer and brings his talent to this Moon guide. It is thorough and interesting. We used it on our recent two day excursion to Charleston and found it very helpful.
I cannot overstate how helpful this book is for navigating and planning a trip. It gives a concise history of Charleston, and contains a surprising amount of useful, wittily-written info for the serious traveler. The book is broken down by geography and a handy series of sections on what to do and where to go. I will be buying more books from Mr. Morekis, because he helped me plan the best Charleston vacation for my needs.
